A middleman, simply put, is someone who is good at making connections. There are middlemen that use Craigslist as a primary source of income. How do they do it? I will share my experience with making money on Craigslist, and hopefully that will get your imagination pumping. I’ve heard stories around internet forums of people profiting from Craigslist connections, but that’s all I thought they were, was stories or some attempt to sell me a get rich quick book. The first thing I started thinking was okay there is some middleman business here, but it is just the obvious ways:
1. Buying stuff for the purpose of reselling somewhere else like Ebay
2. Earning a commission for listing sale Ads for others
3. Wholesaling
4. Service Broker Ads
5. Searching the Free items list for stuff people have listed under Wanted items list
Thing is, these five middleman techniques typically require a substantial amount of time, negotiating skills, and probably some travel. So I started asking myself “how can I successfully make connections on Craigslist without giving up too much time”. That’s when I discovered a winning scratch ticket idea that was just waiting to be cashed in!

That’s the Ticket!
I dubbed this the winning scratch ticket idea, because that describes the feeling I got when I had this epiphany. You buy a lotto ticket on your way out of the store, and bring it home. You put your groceries away, and then you sit down and scratch it. BOOM! We have a winner. Now it’s just sitting there on the table. Sitting there waiting for someone to scoop it up and cash it in. I applied this idea to Craigslist and it made me over $200 in a matter of minutes.
First e-mail, you need to start scooping some winning “tickets”. You visit the GIGS section of Craigslist. Here you will find a whole list of things people want done for them, but I just stuck with tasks that could be handled over the internet, like building websites, editing websites, blogging work, building social media profiles, tutoring the PC impaired through Skype, etc. Unfortunately winning tickets can accidently be mixed with losers, just be diligent when reading and responding to ads. Answer as many ads as you can asking if they still need help with whatever it was they needed , what the details are for their project, and what kind of compensation they are offering for completing the gig.
Second e-mail, you need to deliver that ticket to a vender. After you receive a response email from a gig you inquired, the next step is to either complete the gig yourself if you have the skills to get the job done or to save time you could visit online forums like Elance where there are contractors hungry for work. Just cut and paste the gig details you received from the Craigslist user in a new job posting for the hired help, leaving out the amount of compensation you will get paid and replace it with what you’re willing to pay. Then kick back and watch the bids come in. Select a candidate and collect the work.
Third e-mail, you just need to cash that ticket in! E-mail the finished results to the Craigslist user, receive your payment from them, usually via PayPal, and then you pay your contractor, if you hired someone to help get the job done.
Think Outside Your State
I have used this method to nail gigs where I was being paid to make appointments for Real Estate investors over the phone, and would make $100 for each appointment! I also found gigs where people were willing to pay $300 for someone to design a simple Wordpress blog. I know this can be done, you just have to think outside your state! Go to the Craigslist main page and search gigs all over the world! You will find winning tickets, and with a little initial work sending out those e-mails, you will be able to set yourself up for some quick/easy paydays making connections as a middleman!
