What you say will cost you opportunities of a lifetime, and your happiness. What you don’t do will keep you feeling trapped. How you think is the root of who you are today, and is a reflection of what you’ll ever become. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, but recognizing behavior that keeps you from pressing forward is imperative for your success, not to mention your happiness. I’ve targeted a few behaviors I have identified with. Since I put those behaviors on the spot, I have started an ongoing process to change my behavior and in turn rewire the way I see the world and recognize real opportunities as they arise.
3. The Worst Thing You Can Say
The worst thing you could possibly say to enable failure in your life is the word “can’t”. People don’t realize the amount of subconscious power words harness on the brain. Every time a word or idea is thought about an imprint is created in the subconscious mind. Furthermore, the more often a word or complete thought is used (you guessed it) that imprint in the subconscious gets deeper, like a heavy footstep in mud. Therefore, what you think will become your brain’s absolute. Saying you can’t, will wire your brain to acknowledge risk rather than opportunity. What would be great opportunities for your life, will seem scary and your mind will only send signals of fear.
I feel this is also one of the rudest things you can say to someone who is offering something of value to you, even if you fail to see the value. The reason why this word is rude is because when you say you can’t, what you are actually saying (whether you know it or not) is a side stepping “I do not care to try, and I haven’t cared to think about anything that was discussed”. This is the greatest excuse to not think, “How can I?” The best thing you can do for your success, and create an example for younger generations, is to erase the word can’t from your vocabulary. Learn to stand up for your beliefs and practice simply saying “no thank you” or “I am not interested” to opportunities you are too afraid to try, or start saying “YES! Let’s DO this!”, and start thinking “How CAN I?!” before laziness takes over your happiness.
2. The Worst Thing You Can Do
The worst thing you can do is to do nothing at all. Sloth isn’t one of the seven deadly sins for nothing! Even if you have overcome your fears through rewiring the way you think, it doesn’t mean squat if you’re not taking action. Sometimes you may have a great idea, but then you do something that redirects back to doing the worst thing you can do, as I mentioned above, and that’s to THINK TO MUCH! Too much thinking about an idea can lead you to something called analysis paralysis. Once you have an idea or an opportunity you feel passionate about, DO IT!
Get your hands dirty and learn as you go along. When you reach hurdles that are too high to leap, reach out to people who have done what you are trying to do, or take a breather and pump the brakes to do just enough research to get the wheels turning again. If you know the opportunity can bring you success, and more importantly happiness, than you should never give in to feelings of doubt just because of a stumble, slip, or speed bump. If you do lose all your passion in an idea or opportunity and decide to move on, then you have to use it as a positive learning experience. Take all the best principles from the failed idea or opportunity and apply them to the next. Just don’t do what all unsuccessful people do and that’s:
1. The Worst Thing You Can Think
The worst thing you can think is that an idea or opportunity is too good to be true. What you’re thinking at any given time, is what molds your attitude about ideas and opportunities. This idea goes hand in hand with what you say, because what you say and what you think will both affect your subconscious mind, by creating an imprint that defines who you are. The difference between what one says and what one thinks, is that typically what one thinks is far more extreme towards their own bias opinions. If your opinions are derived from a pessimistic attitude, then you are isolating yourself from a world of abundance. Unless you recognize this behavior and begin a process of rewiring your mind, your brain will literally fail to recognize opportunities, and write off every idea before your critical thinking skills can grasp it for analysis.
The Best Thing You Can do, Is to Give You A Chance
I understand the only thing I can’t do is help those who do not help themselves, but that does not mean I cannot try to help those individuals see that I understand what’s stopping them from helping themselves. Watch the words you use, for they create footprints for your subconscious to follow. Be aware of what you do with your time. Do you think more than you act? Try to do more, think less but think smarter, to take action and produce something tangible to analyze, and move towards something that will make you happy! Optimize your critical thinking skills, and beware of emotional snap judgments your attitude manifests in your mind. Try to start writing off your own opinions first, and open your mind to the all the possibilities this world has to offer, to make your life a success for YOU!
