As more and more people shift their focus to become a full time participant in the virtual economy, I think it is important to understand why anyone would want to in the first place (in order to fully appreciate what it means to even have the opportunity to do so). The mission statement of Live Free Live Rich Entrepreneurs is to help individuals rediscover what it means to Live Free and Live Rich.

Back in 2010/2011 I underwent my own rediscovery in this regard, as I came to the painful realization of just how far removed I was from having any significance within the environment in which I lived, and not to mention the world at large (as it reaches the fruition of a postindustrial era that was responsible for staunchly globalizing GDP).
The Bad News
I realized that living in a corporate world meant that my life had become but a mere unit of measure within a variety of corporate data sets, and that the idea of my employment serving as a form of identity had become an antiquated concept. Gone are the days of neighbor helping neighbor in order to form a cohesive community built upon the synergy of the individuals living within it. I had come to realize how the global corporate model was just siphoning away my energy and exported my efforts not only to the benefit of people that I was likely to never ever meet in my entire life, but to people living somewhere that I had absolutely no interest in ever visiting (but hey, at least the corporate conglomerates pretended to care about my existence, by sending out those generic Christmas/Birthday cards signed by the company’s current members of management at the location where I worked).
It became clear to me that I was seen (if at all) as nothing more than an interchangeable cog within a machine by stockholders’ design. Aside from the glaring existential dilemma, I also realized that my entire livelihood was reliant upon said machine (which had no heart and possessed no soul compared to the small businesses that made up the economies of the old world, which were based upon the vested interests of the individuals/families living within a particular area, in turn prompting/inspiring them to build healthy relationships with one another, “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”, hence forming the basis of what would become a functional “community”). What a concept indeed!
If you haven’t yet noticed (especially during this all too convenient “worldwide event” that has transpired over the past couple years, and is likely to continue into the foreseeable future) that local economies are quite overtly being taken over via corporate/political collusion, then I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to relate with each other as individuals. Perhaps you’re someone who is okay with the notion of existing as just an invisible cog in the machine until you die and are forgotten about, but for the rest of us who want to do more than simply exist in the world… who wish to live free and live rich… and maybe even be remembered by some folks… I’m here to let you know that there is still hope for the future.
The Good News
In “OCCUPATION V.S. EMPLOYMENT” I illustrated the significance of building an identity based upon your individual interests rather than your place of employment (or how you may pay your bills). What I did not go into detail about however, is why it's significant to do so (aside from the negative aspect of losing a job which one’s entire identity was predicated upon).
The financial system as we know it today, has become the largest Ponzi scheme ever perpetuated, couple that with a worldwide economy, and we’ve got a global monstrosity that has effectively rendered any “job” one could apply for to “earn a paycheck” about as meaningful as the paper your currency is printed on (as the digits are deposited directly into a bank account, and robotic automation takes over where human beings left off for “higher wages” or welfare checks). Odds are, everyone in the future will work for, represent, or be sponsored by a major corporation in some shape, fashion, or form. However, the virtual economy is shaping up to be the final frontier for individuals to make a name for themselves.
If it wasn’t for the formation of this new landscape, which gave promise to a virtually endless array of possibilities, then life itself surely would have already become a miserable existence for ninety nine percent of humanity still trying to make a living in a finite world that has already largely been dominated by global corporations alongside their socio-political constituents. What I’m trying to say is, as of right now you still have a choice… but you’ll have to take matters into your own hands (just like in the old world economy) and take action in order to build a name for yourself. However, what’s better now than in the days of old is that you are no longer limited by the interests of your local market, which means you are free to explore more options than ever before in order to form your own identity within a “community” of like-minded individuals with whom you may form relationships with based on sincerity rather than perhaps out of necessity… but then again what’s good for the gander may be good for the goose in this regard - as any success attained through a virtual economy could bring added prosperity to a local community.
